Religion vs. Cult

Religion:
A general term used to designate all concepts concerning the belief in god(s) and goddess(es) as well as other spiritual beings or transcendental ultimate concerns.

Cult:
A quasi-religious group, often living in a colony, with a charismatic leader who indoctrinates members with unorthodox or extremist views, practices or beliefs.

Therefore, all cults are religions but religions are not necessarily cults. In a cult, the founder may be worshipped as God, as opposed to a religion where God is intangible.

As soon as you have to part with cash to join, it’s a cult. As soon as there are more than 10000 of you, it’s a religion. So, the Reader’s Digest is a cult, and London is a religion.

“Acceptable in the 80’s” by Calvin Harris

Used in the new TELUS do-it-all smart phones commercial featuring a fish who gets a bad haircut and chooses to hide in a tin can.

“It was acceptable in the 80’s, it was acceptable at the time”

Remember the photo I posted last month of the hundreds of multi-coloured bouncy balls being dropped out a window? This is the video version. It’s an award-winning spot for Sony Bravia televisions.
