Most American network television shows have been bumped tonight

…to make room for election coverage. Remember to adjust your TiVos/PVRs accordingly. Seriously, it’s election night in the US and all I’m thinking about is missing House (which will air tomorrow instead, just for the record).

I will be watching election coverage though — I’ll even go out of my way to reblog other peoples’ liveblogging — so don’t think I’m an uneducated asshole or anything, ok? Deal.

It’s going to be a long night, bitches. Let’s not all start sucking each other’s dicks just yet.

From the Gawker comments:

And I need whiskey after reading this post. Either way, this election ends the same way 2004 did: me shit drunk, grabbing pumpkins off of my neighbors’ stoops and smashing them on the pavement while singing ‘God Bless America’ at the top of my lungs.

Whether or not I do it with a smile on my face this time remains to be seen.

Get it straight

Republicans = Conservatives. Colour: Red
Democrats = Liberals. Colour: Blue

At the beginning of the election coverage, CBC’s Peter Mansbridge ever-so-kindly reminded us all that the Conservatives own the colour red in the United States, not the Liberals. Confusing, right? At least from a Canadian perspective, where red is a Liberal colour.

“I am puzzled by the glee on this blog. By all indications, this may be a good night for Obama, but it seems to be a terrible night for gays. Current stats show Amendment 2 passing in FL 63.5-36.5. Also appears that a disgusting measure to prohibit gays and any unmarried straights from being foster parents or adopting is also passing. Exit polls show the marriage amendment in AZ passing. And Prop 8 is razor thin. Once again, we get screwed.”
