Rip/download music from Tumblr

How to download an mp3 from Tumblr (works as of October 2012)

This post used to be about downloading music from MySpace (years ago lolol) but people keep getting to this page via Google after searching for “rip tumblr mp3s”… so I figure I might as well show you guys how I do it. Also no one uses MySpace anymore.

OK SO if you use Firefox just download the Greasemonkey addon, which basically just lets you install scripts that do shit to the way you view websites. The script for downloading tumblr mp3s is Tumtaster. Once you download it, download buttons will appear below music players on tumblr that you can right-click and ‘save link as’ to download the mp3 of any song you may come across.

This can be done even easier in Google Chrome — the instructions are the same but you don’t need to bother downloading Greasemonkey, which is nice I guess.

Try reading this guide to make Greasemonkey (and therefore Tumtaster) work on IE and Safari.
